Hyderabad, the newest team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has formally named former Australian fast bowler and ex-Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie as their chief coach.
The company stated that discussions with Gillespie have concluded positively, leading to an official coaching contract for the next season.
Gillespie had previously been part of Pakistan’s coaching staff, assuming the position of head coach for the national Test team in April 2024 alongside Gary Kirsten. Nevertheless, his time in this role was brief, as he resigned from the position in December 2024 due to alleged disagreements with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), shortly before Pakistan’s Test series in South Africa.
The 11th season of the Pakistan Super League is set to begin in March 2025.
