The MinnesotaThe Vikings have dismissed general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, even though they had begun preparing for the 2026 season with him.
The timing of the decision has caught fans throughout the league off guard, especially since Adofo-Mensah was present at the Senior Bowl this week representing the team, evaluating possible future talent in Mobile,Alabama.
A 44-year-old individual is leaving following a disappointing 9-8 season with the Vikings, and to add insult to injury, Sam Darnold, the team’s quarterback last year, took the lead.Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl.
According to ESPN, there had been ‘tension’ at the Vikings headquarters that had begun to turn ‘ugly,’ but there is no additional information about who Adofo-Mensah may have had a conflict with, or the reasons behind it.
Adofo-Mensah inked a new agreement with the team last summer, and during his four seasons with the Vikings, the team reached the playoffs on two occasions.
The group stated that Vikings’ executive Rob Brzezinski will oversee the front office until the NFL Draft, which takes place at the end of April in Pittsburgh, where the team has the 18th selection in the first round.

Adofo-Mensah addressed journalists on Thursday regarding the choice to allow Darnold to depart and concentrate on rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy.
You often spend many of those nights, obviously, making these decisions that are unclear,” Adofo-Mensah stated. “You’re striving to ensure you don’t commit to what you’ve done and believe it’s always correct.
“So there are nights when you wake up and gaze at the ceiling, questioning yourself… I always return to the process and our initial thoughts. It’s simpler to just be revisionist and focus on outcomes,” he continued.
I still comprehend the reasons behind our actions. The outcomes may not have gone as we hoped, but in the end, I believe we had the potential to perform better in some areas.
Darnold, on the other hand, guided the Seahawks to a 14-3 record, secured a division title, earned the No. 1 seed, and performed at his peak in the NFC championship game.
Although he suffered a minor injury, Darnold passed for 346 yards and three touchdowns in Seattle’s 31-27 win against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. He completed 25 out of 36 throws and didn’t turn the ball over.
Last year, Darnold moved to Minnesota and performed well under coach Kevin O’Connell. He had a standout season in 2024, passing for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns, with a 102.5 quarterback rating, guiding the Vikings to 14 victories.
However, Minnesota decided to remain loyal to McCarthy, whose 2024 injury initially created an opportunity for Darnold to step in and succeed in Minneapolis.
