The The Confederation of African Football has given approval to the Nigeria Football Federation’s proposal to relocate the venue of the third round, first leg match of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Senegal.

The game, set for February 7, will now take place at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

The Director of Competitions for NFF, Ruth David, confirmed the change of venue, stating that it was due to the worsening condition of the field at Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The Ibadan location was previously given the go-ahead for the game and served as the venue for the Falconets’ second round, second leg encounter against the Rwanda U20 girls in September of last year.

After the progress, the two-time FIFA World Cup runners-up, who have been training in Ibadan, are set to move to Abeokuta in a few days to get accustomed to the field.

The Falconets beat their Rwandan opponents 5-0 on aggregate to advance to the third round of the African qualification series.

The victor from the match between Nigeria and Senegal in this third round will advance to the final stage of the competition, where they will encounter the winner of the game between Guinea-Bissau and Malawi for a spot in the final tournament set to take place in Poland from September 5 to 27.
