Hundreds of firefighters were dispatched to combat a massive fire that erupted at aLondon nursery.
Eight fire trucks and approximately 60 firefighters were dispatched to the location in Lewisham, southeast London, on Saturday night.
Online videos shared on social media depict the roof of Rushey Green Nursery in Catford being consumed by fire, with smoke rising into the sky as shocked residents looked on.
The London Fire Brigade stated that they initially got reports of the fire approximately at 6:40 pm and deployed teams from nearby fire stations.
They mentioned that the roof of a three-story building was on fire and “almost half of the roof was damaged by the flames.”
People were told to ‘keep their windows and doors closed’ because of the thick smoke.
No one has been hurt.
Road restrictions are also active, leading to traffic jams and prompting residents to steer clear of the zone.

A probe has been initiated to determine the origin of the fire, which remains unidentified.
A social media user commented: “Extremely severe fire, I was attempting to pass through and could detect the smell of smoke inside my vehicle.”
“Very disappointing to see, it was a well-loved and long-standing nursery,” added another.
A third person stated: “The roof is on fire. A significant number of emergency services are present, and there’s a lot of smoke. Make sure to keep the windows shut.”

The Control Office of the Brigade received the initial call out of 17 at 18:37 and dispatched firefighting teams from Bromley, East Greenwich, Peckham, and other nearby fire stations to the location. The blaze was contained by 21:25.
