Group Cortis will be the first K-pop act to headline a major event during the National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Week. This new group, which has not yet completed its first year since making its debut, is creating excitement domestically as they prepare to deliver the first-ever K-pop performance in the history of the event.
As reported by the NBA and ESPN, the leading sports broadcasting network in the U.S., Cortis will take part in a halftime performance at the “2026 Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game” on the 13th at the Kia Forum in California. The NBA and ESPN shared their excitement, saying, “Cortis is the first K-pop artist ever to present a halftime show at the ‘All-Star Celebrity Game.’ They have also been named ‘Friends of the NBA’ and are actively representing the NBA as its ambassador.”
The “All-Star Celebrity Game” is an event where former NBA players, famous Hollywood actors, well-known rappers, and other sports celebrities join forces to create teams and play against each other. As a key part of the NBA All-Star Week, it is aired live across the country on ESPN, drawing significant viewership. Cortis is set to give a unique performance while being watched by basketball fans around the globe.
Cortis, a new group introduced by BTS’s company Big Hit Music in August of the previous year, is gaining attention not only in the U.S. music scene but also within the sports sector. They were chosen as the main act for the “NBA Crossover Concert Series” on the 12th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, marking them as the first Korean performer to take the stage at this event. Furthermore, they became the first K-pop act to collaborate with the energy drink brand Red Bull.
The gaming sector has also recognized their talent. Their first album single “GO!” was selected for the original soundtrack of the fourth season of the widely popular U.S. game “NBA 2K26,” which has sold a total of 150 million units. In the globally successful shooting game “Fortnite,” a dance move based on the song was introduced, highlighting the group’s remarkable partnerships as an emerging act.
