The People Power Party stated on the 6th, in reaction to YouTuber Go Seong-guk’s assertion that a picture of former President Chun Doo-hwan should be displayed at the party’s office, “There is no justification for accepting comments being made loudly on YouTube.”
Choi Soo-jin, the head of the People Power Party’s press office, addressed journalists at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, that morning and rejected the allegation, saying, “The leadership has never considered displaying the former president’s photograph,” and referred to it as “rumors spread on YouTube.”
She stated, “What’s the purpose of replying to every individual commenting on YouTube?” and mentioned, “There’s no justification for the party to follow through simply because someone requests to remove or delete a picture.”
Previously, the YouTuber Go Seong-guk stated on his YouTube channel ‘Go Seong-guk TV’ on the 29th of last month, “Hang pictures of President Chun Doo-hwan and President Roh Tae-woo at the party’s headquarters.”
In reply, Kim Hyun-chul, the second son of former President Kim Young-sam and head of the Kim Young-sam Presidential Memorial Foundation, posted on his Facebook on the 5th, “Jang Dong-hyeok’s leadership is silently supporting the far-right YouTuber’s request to ‘hang Chun Doo-hwan’s photo at the party headquarters.’ There is no justification for keeping the portrait of YS (former President Kim Young-sam) at the People Power Party, which has transformed into a conservative faction. Remove the image of President Kim Young-sam right away.”
