The Nigerian U-20 women’s team, known as the Falconets, have shown assurance in their preparedness before Saturday’s 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup third round, first leg match against Senegal at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, according to PUNCH.

At the pre-match press conference held on Friday evening, head coach Moses Aduku and team captain Joy Igbokwe emphasized the team’s readiness, mental approach, and physical condition as they get ready for the crucial two-leg match that will decide their path to the World Cup finals.

Aduku verified that the team has engaged in rigorous preparation within the camp and is still completely dedicated to the upcoming challenge.

“The athletes are in good shape, concentrated, and prepared. We have put in a lot of effort during training, and we treat each game with the gravity of a championship match to keep the proper mindset and sharpness,” the coach said.

Captain Igbokwe shared her coach’s belief, stating that the team is cohesive and fully understands the significance of the challenge ahead.

“We are prepared to deliver our top performance in the home match, then maintain the same dedication for the second leg in Senegal,” she stated.

Regarding injuries, Aduku mentioned that two players who suffered minor injuries are being closely monitored and have resumed limited training, while one player has completely recovered from an illness.

The trainer also urged Nigerian football supporters to come in big numbers and back the team, highlighting that solid home support might be crucial.

“The backing from our supporters will be crucial, particularly when we play at home. It boosts the players’ confidence and drive,” Aduku stated.
