Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has stated that he is still without a new team following his mutual agreement to end his contract with the South African club Chippa United, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
“Honestly, I don’t have a club or a contract in front of me,” he said to SABC Metrofm.
It’s a deal that both sides will be satisfied, we wish each other the best, and I can look ahead to my career. I have been with this club for four years, and it’s truly pleasant to work here, but we all need to progress as players or managers.
Football is about joy, and my happiness takes precedence.
Nwabali has been replaced as Chippa United’s primary goalkeeper by Dumisani Msibi upon his return from the 2025 AFCON.
Msibi has kept four clean goals in four league games.
However, the Super Eagles goalkeeper stated that this was not the reason he left the club with six months remaining on his contract.
“No, that’s not how it is. Before I participated in AFCON, I was injured, to be precise, from the Pirates match, and I was working on recovering so I could return stronger for the team and also qualify for AFCON,” he explained.
Having returned from the AFCON, there’s an agreement between the chairman and me – you’re coming back from a larger competition and have been playing for a month, so it’s best to take a break for one or two games.
That occurred prior to the decision being taken, and from the moment I joined this club, we have been communicating like father and son, gaining a deeper understanding each day.
So, as I mentioned, when I spoke with him, yes, making that kind of choice was challenging, but he believes it’s likely the best option for me, which, as I said, I decided on by myself.
Several sources indicate that the 28-year-old goalkeeper is set to move to Raja Club Athletic, a leading team in Morocco’s top league.
