Embrapa, a top research organization affiliated with Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply, is key in advancing tropical farming with science-based and eco-friendly approaches.

The company is recognized for its proficiency in research, development, and innovation (R&D), covering areas such as plant genetic enhancement, soil-plant interactions, bio-inputs, and climate-resilient farming methods.

Via its international collaboration division, Embrapa has been broadening alliances throughout Africa and Latin America, facilitating the sharing of expertise, enhancing technical skills, and transferring technology to tackle common environmental and farming issues.

Its emphasis on eco-friendly farming practices, carbon-reducing production methods, and technology-based approaches closely matches Ethiopia’s initiatives to upgrade its agricultural industry, boost output, and improve food safety.

The recently signed pact is anticipated to function not only as a mutual business deal but also as a key link for technology exchange and sustained cooperation in tropical agriculture—mainly in coffee, a leading export product for Ethiopia.

As both nations are acknowledged as leading global coffee producers, the collaboration marks a new phase in utilizing research, innovation, and South-South cooperation to enhance value creation, quality benchmarks, and competitiveness within international markets.
