Kanchanpur, Feb. 8 – A minor girl lost her life after a wild elephant attacked and destroyed her family’s residence at Dhakka camp for displaced individuals in ward 6 of Laljhadi Rural Municipality, Kanchanpur, on Saturday evening. The victim has been recognized as Rejina Saud.
As per the District Police Office, the elephant that came out of Shuklaphanta National Park launched an attack while the family was asleep.
The deceased and her 55-year-old grandmother were injured while trying to flee.
“They were taken to Nawajeevan Hospital in Dhangadhi, where the girl died from her injuries,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Khadak Bahadur Khatri.
Approximately 600 individuals who were relocated during the expansion of Shuklaphanta National Park have been residing in the Dhakka camp.
