Jeffrey Epsteinsuggested that Sarah Ferguson should ‘acknowledge her misuse of medication and enter a rehabilitation program’ following her involvement in a cash-for-access trap.
The most recent batch of emails made public by the US Department of Justice reveal the formerDuchess of York“desperate” situation was debated by Epstein andPeter Mandelsofollowing the embarrassing newspaper article in 2010.
Pretending to be a rich global businessman, undercover reporter Mazher Mahmood—referred to as the Fake Sheikh—organized to pay Ms Ferguson in exchange for access to her ex-husband Andrew, who was then a powerful trade envoy working to secure deals for British companies internationally.
During a covertly recorded gathering at a Mayfair residence, she insisted on receiving a transfer of £500,000 to her accountHSBCbank account, informing the reporter: “That unlocks every possibility you could ever desire.”
I can unlock any door you desire, and I will do so for you. Take care of me and he will take care of you… you’ll receive it ten times over.
She was later observed breaking down in tears when Mahmood gave her a suitcase containing £40,000 in cash as an initial payment.
At 6:30 AM on the day the story appeared in the News of the World, Epstein emailed his friend Mandelson to inquire if he had read it.
Mandelson responded: “Have you seen the video? If Andrew had been elected, he would have had to step down. She’s so desperate, I feel bad for her. But she won’t bounce back from this.”

In response to Epstein’s recommendation that she seek rehabilitation, Mandelson described it as “an option,” but highlighted that it would be “terrible for her and the girls,” referring to daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, who were 22 and 20 years old at that time.
Epstein also mentioned that he had contacted Andrew the previous day, stating that he was “with some of my friends at a restaurant in Singapore…”
No proof exists that Ms. Ferguson was addicted to medication or ever visited a rehabilitation facility.
After Mahmood’s operation, the former royal quickly apologized for a “serious mistake in judgment,” attributing it to her growing financial problems and a dependency on food.
She later told US chat show host Oprah Winfrey: ‘I was so out of control with desperation to the point where I’d reached no return. Sort of out of my mind.
[I was] losing control completely [to the point that] I was seeking fast solutions in areas I typically wouldn’t consider.
Like anyone who experiences an addiction to food, or an addiction to who knows what… it’s simply uncontrollable behavior.
Emails disclosed by the US Department of Justice reveal that Ms. Ferguson attempted to launch her own unsuccessful ventures with guidance and support from Epstein.
In an email from 2009, she excitedly informed Epstein about the ‘Sarah Ferguson’ labeled clothing and perfumes she aimed to introduce with Tommy Hilfiger, along with television programs and literature.
She wrote: “Within a week, following your lunch, it appears the energy has improved. I have never felt more moved by a friend’s [sic] generosity than your compliment to me in front of my daughters. Thank you, Jeffrey, for being the brother I have always desired.”
The next year, she said to him, “You are a legend. I truly can’t find the right words to express my love and appreciation for your generosity and kindness. I am at your disposal. Please marry me.”
Ms. Ferguson was reached for a response.
