Lee Boo-jin, the daughter of the late Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee, recently joined her son’s high school graduation ceremony, following his recent acceptance into Seoul National University, which is considered South Korea’s top university.

The president and CEO of Hotel Shilla attended the graduation ceremony of her son, Lim Dong-hyun, at Whimoon High School in Seoul’s Gangnam District on Monday. This was an unusual public appearance for the daughter of the late Samsung chairman at a family event.

Known as the “Samsung Princess,” she was joined by her aunt, Hong Ra-young, who previously served as deputy director of the Samsung Museum of Art, according toThe Korea Daily.

During the event, Lee Boo-jin displayed a friendly and accessible attitude, smiling and joining in the singing as the school band performed, with her son taking the lead vocal role.

Following the performance, she went onto the stage to deliver flowers and commend her son. While taking pictures, she apologized to the audience, stating that she was worried the cameras aimed at her might cause disturbance to the crowd, as reported byThe Korea Times.

Lim Dong-hyun earned honors, was presented the Principal’s Award, received an accolade from the Gangnam District Office, and obtained a scholarship from the Whimoon Foundation.

The event took place just a few months after he was accepted into the Economics program at Seoul National University via its highly selective early admissions process for the 2026 academic year. The university is widely recognized as South Korea’s top institution.

Lim captured public attention last week after appearing as a guest speaker at a private tutoring center in Daechi-dong.

Speaking to students getting ready for high school, he mentioned that his approach to studying was “totally disconnecting from smartphones and video games for three years” in order to concentrate on university entrance exams, as reported. The Korea Times.

Lee Boo-jin is among South Korea’s top female business leaders and the second daughter of the late Samsung chairman, Lee Kun-hee, and Hong Ra-hee.

Born in 1970, she completed her studies at Yonsei University and began working at Samsung in 1995, taking on multiple management positions within the hospitality and service industries. From 2010 onward, she has been the CEO and president of Hotel Shilla, leading the company to become a significant force in luxury hospitality and duty-free shopping throughout Asia.

Recognized for her assertive leadership approach, contemporary image, and private personal life, she is seen as one of the most formidable and impactful women within South Korea’s business community.

She married Im Woo-jae, who was working at Samsung at the time, in 1999 — an uncommon inter-class marriage within South Korea’s large company circles. Lim is the couple’s sole child, born in 2007.

Their marriage, which lasted almost 20 years, concluded with a widely covered divorce in 2020 following prolonged legal battles concerning child custody and property.

Since that time, Lee Boo-jin has concentrated on managing Hotel Shilla and nurturing her son, all while keeping a minimal public presence.
