LG Uplus’s CEO Hong Beom-sik is set to give a keynote address at the opening event of the Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC26) in Barcelona, Spain, on the second day of next month, according to an announcement made by the company on the 11th. MWC is recognized as the world’s biggest mobile communications and technology trade show.

LG Uplus mentioned, “This marks the first instance of an LG Group executive delivering an official keynote address at MWC.” In his speech, CEO Hong will present ‘ixi-O,’ an on-device AI call assistant created by LG Uplus. ixi-O is a service that offers functionalities like call recording and summarization, real-time voice fraud detection, and AI-generated voice recognition through voice calls.

LG Uplus introduced ‘ixi-O’ at the end of 2024 and has recently presented a search function powered by generative AI during calls, in partnership with Google. The company also stated that a video highlighting family communication via voice calls will be shown during the presentation. This will illustrate the service’s vision of “Humanizing Every Connection.”

LG Uplus stated, “This keynote address also signifies the start of LG Uplus’s comprehensive global AI market initiative.” Although interest in AI technology is increasing, commercially available AI services in the voice call sector are still scarce. The speech is seen as an expression of intent to lead in the global AI market.

CEO Hong is also said to have joined a dinner hosted by King Felipe VI of Spain before the start of MWC. This gathering is included in the official program arranged by the Global Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), and it brings together MWC keynote speakers and prominent individuals from the global telecommunications and IT sectors.
