Officials in Arizona increased their actions on Tuesday as local SWAT units and explosive ordnance disposal teams were deployed during a growing probe into the abduction of the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.
According to television station KGUN9, Oro Valley police authorities stated that personnel from a local SWAT unit and explosive ordnance disposal teams “have been deployed for an operation coordinated with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department as the primary contact.”

The progress occurs as new details surfaced in the case. On Tuesday night, TMZ’s Harvey Levin reported that authorities noticednew “activity” in a Bitcoin account linked to a ransom note in the abduction. Levin mentioned that the activity represented the first “movement in that account” following days of observation.
He stressed that information regarding the amount or sender could not be disclosed for various reasons, although KGUN reported theamount was under $300. The rapid advancements occurred as officials disclosed surveillance images and video of the individual they believe is responsible for abducting Guthrie’s mother, Nancy.

Authorities have not yet provided information regarding the specifics of the SWAT and bomb unit operation. The situation was also mentioned by Anderson Cooper on CNN on Tuesday night, although he informed viewers, “We still don’t know what that is related to.”
