The head of Telegram has stated that he remains unaffected by Russian efforts to restrict access to the widely-used messaging platform, which is utilized by various newsmakers, including the Kremlin, courts, and the exiled opposition.

Pavel Durov, the Russian-born creator of Telegram, stated late Tuesday that he would not give in to demands from Russian officials, asserting that the application “supports freedom and privacy, regardless of the pressure.”

The Russian state media regulator stated earlier in the day that the widely used messaging application will encounter additional limitations from officials due to its failure to address prior infractions.
