Danny Dyeris to appear in the ‘heart-stopping, emotional’Channel 4 thriller The Siege.

The actor from The Rivals, aged 48, will join other British performers in the tense series, which is inspired by the actual Iranian Embassy siege inLondon in 1980.

It observed six armed Arab Iranian separatists – advocating for the independence of the Khuzestan Province ofIran– stormed the Iranian embassy in London, seizing 26 individuals inside, and calling for self-governance for their community.

The six-day siege concluded with an SAS operation called Operation Nimrod.

Ian Katz, the Head of Content at Channel 4, stated: ‘The siege of the Iranian embassy and the courageous operation that concluded it became a legendary event that shaped the fierce reputation of the contemporary SAS.’

The program is an intense, emotional thriller that uncovers the lesser-known reasons behind the unfortunate captors and the deeply human experience occurring within the embassy as the world watched and Britain’s most dangerous soldiers prepared their high-stakes operation.

The head of content stated that the series will alter audiences’ perception of the siege and highlight how near the renowned SAS mission was to failure.

The screenplay was adapted by Will Smith, the creator of Slow Horses, based on Ben Macintyre’s bestselling book The Siege, and the six-episode series will be overseen by executive producer Patrick Spence.

Ian stated: “We are excited to be collaborating with Will Smith, Ben Macintyre, Lewis Arnold, Patrick Spence, and the outstanding ensemble.”

This significant project highlights Channel 4’s dedication to enhancing outstanding drama within its lineup of original British content.

Alexandre Piel, Deputy Head of Drama at ARTE France, stated: ‘The Siege marks our initial collaboration with the UK, and we are genuinely proud to be partnered with Channel 4 on this remarkable endeavor.’

Will Smith is an outstanding writer; his version of Ben Macintyre’s book skillfully combines an exciting mystery with the heartfelt essence of this sorrowful occurrence. He transformed it into a powerful, touching, and humorous narrative simultaneously.

It has been delightful to be by Patrick Spence’s side during his journey.

It’s a rare chance, one that enables you to observe a historical event transforming into a catastrophe before the entire world.

And we are also very pleased that this project allows us to collaborate with the respected Channel 4 team for the first time.

As reported by The Sun, Danny will play the heroic police officer Trevor Lock—who was awarded the George Medal for his part in the siege—in the series.

After Channel 4 revealed Danny’s selection on Instagram, fans swiftly expressed their enthusiasm for the new series.

In addition to Danny Dyer, the new drama will also feature David Morrissey from Sherwood and Motaz Malhees from Speak No Evil.

They stated: “Excellent, anticipating this.”;

Oh, I am SO satisfied with this!!!!!!!!
