McDonald’s has published a report indicating that its operations in South Korea added roughly 1.57 trillion Korean won to the nation’s GDP in 2024. The yearly impact on job creation amounted to 35,000 positions.

McDonald’s Korea revealed on the 13th the main data regarding McDonald’s social and economic impact, as evaluated by the British global economic research organization **Oxford Economics**.

The organization calculated McDonald’s annual domestic GDP impact at 1.57 trillion won, with direct impacts totaling 484 billion won. Indirect impacts amounted to 678 billion won, while induced effects reached 409 billion won.

Regarding employment, the study noted that McDonald’s generated 35,300 local jobs, comprising 19,900 direct positions, additional roles via partner businesses, and broader economic impacts. Fifty-two percent of McDonald’s Korea’s overall staff are young individuals between the ages of 15 and 24, while 57% of the employees are women.

The report also examined the effects of the **Taste of Korea** initiative, introduced in 2021, which has played a role in revitalizing the regional economy. By September of the previous year, the project’s menu had achieved over 30 million in total sales, with the volume of agricultural products purchased surpassing 1,000 tons.

The report also mentioned that McDonald’s Korea contributed 900 million won to the **Ronald McDonald House Foundation (RMHC Korea)** and 400 million won to local food banks by 2024.
