A well-known Tamale-based advocate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mohammed Abubakari Sadiq Protocol, is said to have died.

The announcement of his passing was verified by multiple NDC supporters on social media, among them Atta Issah, the Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu in Ghana’s Northern Region.

In a Facebook update sharing the unfortunate news, Atta Issah referred to Mohammed Abubakari Sadiq Protocol as a committed NDC member from the Sagnarigu constituency.

“I express deep sadness upon learning of the death of our respected colleague and dedicated NDC member, Abubakari Sadiq Protocol, a hardworking comrade from Sagnarigu constituency who remained loyal to the party throughout his service,” he wrote.

“May Allah show compassion to him and grant him the highest level of Paradise. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family, friends, and the whole NDC community during this challenging period,” he added.

The reason for the passing and funeral of Abubakari Sadiq

As per a statement from the Tamale News Agency, Sadiq Protocol passed away early Friday morning, February 13, 2026, at his residence in Malshegu following a short but severe illness.

The report also mentioned that the young politician’s funeral is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Malshegu Cemetery.

“Indeed, to Allah we belong and indeed to Him we will return. With a sorrowful heart, we announce the sudden passing of our brother, friend, and comrade Mohammed Protocol Sadiq Bukas. He passed away early this morning at his family home in Malshegu following a short but severe illness,” reported the Tamale News Agency.

Work is being done to prepare for the burial, with the interment set for 10:00 a.m. today at the Malshegu Cemetery. Everyone who is a friend, family member, or well-wisher is kindly asked to come together with the family in prayer and offer their final respects. May Allah forgive his faults, show him compassion, and allow him to enter the highest levels of Jannah,” it stated.
