It was later disclosed that a nurse, who had boarded a plane for a holiday, provided immediate first aid to a passenger who had a severe seizure.
As reported by Ulsan University Hospital and others on the 13th, around 2:30 p.m. on the 10th, a male passenger on a flight heading to Gimpo Airport suffered severe seizures while on the runway at Ulsan Airport. At that moment, the cabin staff were in the aisle, instructing passengers on how to put on life jackets in case of an emergency. When a crew member urgently announced the presence of a patient, a woman sitting across from the aisle immediately moved forward without any hesitation.
She is Lee So-young, 31 years old, a nurse with six years of experience in the gastroenterology department at Ulsan University Hospital. Lee was on the plane for a personal trip.
Lee presented her nursing license, which was saved on her phone, to the crew members to verify her identity as a healthcare worker, and then assessed the state of the unconscious man.

At that moment, the man was in a severe condition, with his life potentially at risk because his tongue had fallen back, obstructing his airway, accompanied by seizures.
Lee quickly asked nearby passengers to dial 119 while calmly administering first aid along with the crew, including taking off the patient’s clothing and ensuring his airway was clear. Due to Lee’s quick action, the patient soon became conscious and started breathing again.
Lee kept an eye on the man’s status until emergency medical services arrived at the location following a call. She discovered alcohol wipes in his possessions, verified that he had diabetes, and relayed this detail to the paramedics. The individual was then taken to a local hospital via ambulance for medical care.
Lee stated, “I merely did what any healthcare worker is expected to do,” and continued, “I would not hesitate to come forward if a similar scenario arises again.”
