The proprietor of a Swiss nightclub that was destroyed on New Year’s Day fell to the ground and wept uncontrollably as she was surrounded by angry relatives of the deceased.
Jacques and Jessica Moretti went to the prosecutor’s office in Sion on Thursday for their fourth day of interrogation, with many sorrowful family members gathering at the entrance, shouting abuse at the pair.
The couple is currently under legal oversight after the fire that resulted in 41 fatalities and 115 injuries at Le Constellation in the Crans-Montana ski area on January 1.
Video footage captured Ms. Moretti, 40, moving through the furious crowd, as a crying parent was heard shouting: “You killed my son, you killed 40 people, you will pay for this.”
As she entered the prosecutor’s office, she collapsed to her knees and burst into tears, according to the video.
Meanwhile, her spouse seemed to bend down next to her and offered her comfort.
After being repeatedly labeled as ‘murderers’ by the angry group, Mr. Moretti addressed the crowd and stated, ‘If we need to pay, we will. We are not the Mafia; we are laborers. We will accept responsibility, we will investigate this thoroughly, we promise you, we are here to seek justice.’
The mother of Trystan, a 17-year-old victim, was part of the furious group that gathered early yesterday morning.

In conversation with regional media, she stated: ‘We will not forgive and we will not forget.’
I’m here for Trystan,” said his father, Christian Podoux. “I want Jessica Moretti to understand the impact she’s had on fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters. She withdrew, left the Constellation. Others, the younger individuals, provided so much support, yet she simply walked away. That’s not fair.
The younger siblings of the teenage victim, Tobyas, aged 14, and Yaelle, aged 15, were also there with their parents when they merged into the excited crowd as the Morettis arrived.
They informed local reporters that they want Jessica Moretti to issue an apology.
I’m Trystan’s younger sibling, and I’m here to demonstrate to Jessica Moretti that she has ruined families, to face us directly.
Tobyas stated: “What occurred is not typical. We seek fairness. Moretti is clearly responsible, along with the municipality of Crans-Montana and the Valais canton.”
After being repeatedly labeled as ‘murderers’ by the angry group, Mr. Moretti addressed the crowd and stated, ‘If we must pay, we will. We are not the Mafia; we are laborers. We will accept responsibility, we will investigate this thoroughly, we promise you, we are here to seek justice.’
The session in Sion addressed employee development at the nightclub.

As reported by Ansa news agency, Ms. Moretti acknowledged that her team had not received training for fire emergencies.
“There were no evacuation exercises since no one requested them,” Moretti was reportedly quoted as saying.
She also addressed the families affected by the fire: “We were aware that the families wished to meet with us today. We comprehend your anger, your resentment.”
“I restate that we are available for any inquiries and will be present for you,” Ms. Moretti said, her voice trembling.
Concerning her actions on the night of the fire, Moretti stated, “My main focus was to sound the alarm, get people out, and contact the fire department as soon as possible. I come from a family with a firefighter, and that’s just my instinct.”
In the meantime, a new allegation states that Mr. Moretti declined to use fire-resistant foam cladding due to its high cost.
As reported by Italian media, a material supplier named Robert Borbiro has emailed the police in Crans-Montana, stating that he had recommended the installation of fire-resistant foam cladding in the bar.
However, because of financial limitations, it is reported that Mr. Moretti turned down Mr. Brobiro’s suggestion.
A French couple has strongly accused their young employees of starting the fire and obstructing an exit, according to leaked interview transcripts that show them stating: ‘It’s not us, it’s the others’.
The Morettis’ approach during approximately 20 hours of questioning by three prosecutors was specifically to attribute the incident to waitress Cyane Panine, 24, who was seen climbing onto a coworker’s shoulders while holding two champagne bottles with lit sparklers.
Cyane, who perished in the fire, was equipped with a promotional crash helmet and failed to notice the pyrotechnics illuminating the bar’s basement ceiling, which was coated in highly flammable foam.

Speaking about the champagne sparklers performance, which was recorded, Mr Moretti stated to the inquiry that it was ‘Cyane’s show’.
I didn’t stop her from doing that,” he said to the prosecutors, continuing, “I didn’t require her to follow safety guidelines. We didn’t recognize the risk. Cyane enjoyed it – it was a performance, and she liked being involved in the act.
She had previously stated: “Cyane enjoyed delivering these bottles – she did it on her own initiative.”
If I had considered even the smallest possibility, I would have stopped it. Over ten years of managing the company, I never believed there could be any threat.
A French couple is being investigated criminally, accused of manslaughter due to negligence, causing bodily injury through negligence, and setting fire through negligence.
They could receive a prison sentence of up to 20 years if convicted of manslaughter.
