It has come to light that a man who became widely known as a missing person was actually a victim of a hit-and-run accident, passing away after being refused urgent medical treatment by three prominent hospitals in Accra.
Graphic Online stated that the victim was 29-year-old Charles Amissah, who had previously been confirmed deceased by his family.

Amissah, an engineer employed at Promasidor Ghana Limited in the North Industrial Area of Accra, was part of the road incident that occurred at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Overpass on February 6.
However, after spending several hours seeking urgent treatment following his ambulance transport, he was informed that none of the three main hospitals he visited had available beds.
The medical facilities that refused him treatment include the Police Hospital, the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, and the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
On the day of the presentation, the ambulance arrived at the accident location within three minutes of being notified, at 10:35 pm. They also provided initial medical assistance to attempt to stabilize Amissah.
From that time until approximately 1 a.m., the ambulance service team unsuccessfully attempted to get the three hospitals to accept the victim.
As per reports, no hospitals provided emergency care even though the ambulance was prepared to remain for doctors to utilize the ambulance trolley.
At Korle Bu, their third visit that evening, the ambulance crew was instructed to transport the patient to the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Legon. Ammissah soon suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away.
A physician from Korle Bu later arrived to confirm the patient’s death and directed the crew to transport the body to the morgue.
Throughout this time, the victim’s family remained unaware of what had happened to their loved one.
When he failed to come back to the house in Adenta, they filed a report at the Adenta Police Station, and he was considered missing.
Details regarding him were circulated on social media to seek public help in finding him.
It wasn’t until Monday, February 9, 2026, that they received a clue from the Nima Police Station, which directed them to locate their relative at the Korle Bu mortuary.
