The race for the Premier League championship is intensifying, as the difference between top team Arsenal and second-place Manchester City has narrowed to only four points.
CityThey have secured victories in both of their past two league matches – including a win over Liverpool – whereas the Gunners managed only a draw in their most recent game, after going ahead against Brentford on Thursday evening.
With 12 matches remaining in the season,Arsenalremain in pole position, although they have been in this situation before and have lost it. Confidence, although still strong at the moment, could be shaken.
The two teams competing for the Premier League title still face each other on April 18 at the Etihad, while the Gunners also have consecutive matches against rivals Tottenham and Chelsea.
However, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal also have each of the bottom three teams left to face before the end of the season.
Meanwhile, City has only two more of the top six teams left to face – after an away game against Chelsea, they will take on Arsenal in April.
Similar to Arsenal, they also have upcoming matches against relegation-reeling West Ham and Burnley before the season concludes, but will end the campaign with a challenging game against third-placed Aston Villa, which may influence the title outcome.
