Broadcast journalist Bernard Avle is one of several individuals who have honored the late former station manager of Radio Univers Dr Abubakari Sidick Ahmed.

In his tribute, Avle, who emerged from the University of Ghana campus radio station, thanked Ahmed for his mentorship.

In a post on X, he said Ahmed trained and guided him.

Thanks to Dr Abubakar Sidick Ahmed. You found, trained, and guided me and many others from our generation.

“May your legacy last forever,” he also remarked.on Facebook.

Journalists such as Adwubi Wiafe Akenteng, who attended Radio Univers, also expressed gratitude to Ahmed for providing them with an opportunity as student reporters and broadcasters.

Some people characterized him as compassionate, ethical, and highly influential.

I learned of the death of my boss and mentor, Dr. Abubakari Sidick Ahmed from Radio Univers, University of Ghana.

Ahmed, widely referred to as Alhaji, passed away at the age of 63 on February 16.

He died at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, where he was undergoing medical treatment.

His passing was verified by his wife, Naziha Alhassan,on Radio Univers, who stated he passed away around 10:15 a.m.

Ahmed spent over three decades working at Radio Univers, starting his journey as a student reporter and eventually advancing to the position of Station Manager at the non-profit, university-affiliated radio station in Ghana.
