An IndianaA high school secretary is facing allegations of engaging in sexual activity with two students, following an incident where her husband discovered her with one of them and is said to have physically assaulted her.

A 31-year-old woman named Alicia Hughes was taken into custody on Saturday following an inquiry that revealed a suspected romantic and sexual connection with two minors.

Hughes was discovered by her spouse while she was with an 18-year-old student from the Randolph Eastern School Corporation on Friday evening, according to Union City police.

He confronted the two individuals and reportedly struck Hughes during the conflict. The alleged assault is being looked into by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.

As their inquiry continued, officers from Union City discovered that Hughes had been in a different relationship with a 17-year-old high school student.

She and the minor engaged in sexual activity at least five times, according to the police. In Indiana, the age of consent is 16, but adults may face charges if they have a sexual relationship with someone under 18 who is under their authority.

Hughes was arrested and faces five charges of enticing a minor, related to the alleged sexual misconduct involving a student.

She was taken to Randolph County Jail and is currently detained with a $25,000 cash-only bail.

The police in Union City stated that their inquiry is still in progress and are asking anyone with further details to come forward.

The Randolph Eastern School Corporation (RESC) is reported to be assisting the police department’s inquiry.

“The Union City Police Department expresses its gratitude to the Randolph Eastern School Corporation for its quick collaboration, openness, and dedication to safeguarding the students in the district during this inquiry,” police stated in a release.

RESC Chief Superintendent Neal Adams, in a statement to WXIN, stated that the district is treating the accusations ‘very seriously’ and values the ‘professionalism and thoroughness’ of the police.

“We acknowledge that circumstances like these are very worrying for our families, employees, and the wider public. Please be assured that we share these worries and are addressing this issue with the highest level of seriousness, attention, and promptness,” Adams stated.

Our priority continues to be assisting our students and ensuring a secure, courteous, and encouraging educational atmosphere for everyone.

Adams chose not to provide additional comments, referring to the ongoing criminal investigation and the privacy of the students concerned.

The Daily Mail has sought a response from the school district.
