The number of voters who cast their ballots on Saturday morning was minimal at various polling stations within the Abuja Municipal Area Council during the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections.

A report from our reporter at polling stations 006, 007, and 008 in the City Centre Registration Area showed low turnout as election workers began the voting process.

At Polling Station 006, the voting started approximately at 8:30 a.m., yet by 9:50 a.m., just a few voters had submitted their votes. The head official showed worry about the low participation.

“We are still waiting for individuals to cast their votes. Although we started at 8:30 a.m., by 9:50 a.m., only seven people had voted,” the officer said to our reporter.

In a similar manner, at Polling Station 008, staff dealt with the small number of voters who had arrived while waiting for additional residents to show up. Although there was a low number of participants, it was stated that the election supplies and equipment were operating correctly.

“All is proceeding well. There are currently no problems with the equipment. We are awaiting additional voters,” said another chief officer.

Security staff could be seen positioned near the voting locations to maintain order and safeguard election supplies.

Members of the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Correctional Service were sent to ensure a secure and calm electoral atmosphere.
