What advantages do county assembly officials gain?
1. Sitting allowance
A committee service allowance is provided to state officials within the County Assembly who participate in committees.
The chairperson is paid KSh 6,500 for each meeting, with a maximum monthly payment of KSh 104,000, whereas the vice-chairperson gets KSh 5,200 per session, capped at KSh 83,200 per month.
In contrast, a member is paid KSh 3,900 for each session, with a monthly cap of KSh 62,400.
2. Official transport
The head of the County Assembly is given an official vehicle with a maximum engine size of 2000cc.
For official duties as a member of the county assembly, the deputy speaker and members receive KSh 2,212,000 for motor vehicle allowance to purchase a vehicle with an engine size of up to 1800cc.

3. Car maintenance allowance
The monthly allowance for vehicle maintenance will be provided to the deputy speaker and MCAs at a rate of KSh 30,167.
