An Australian small business owner plans to pursue additional steps following the alleged incident where two young women were recorded on camera stealing from her market stall.
The owner of Duverah, Jess Adelman, was offering handcrafted jewelry at the local Eumundi Markets onQueenslandThe woman’s Sunshine Coast on Wednesday when she observed the couple behaving oddly near her stall.
She asserted that the women informed her that they were fromMelbourneand spent 20 minutes at her booth showing curiosity about buying some of her items but eventually left without making a purchase.
Following the departure of the couple, Ms. Adelman realized that six rings, valued between $350 and $400, were no longer present.
She acquired the CCTV footage, which captured a woman trying on multiple rings and diverting Ms. Adelman’s attention, while her companion behind her seemed to place several pieces of jewelry into her bag, periodically looking around to check that no one was observing.
Ms. Adelman stated that the women were also accused of stealing from other vendors at the market on that day, and they subsequently confessed to taking two rings when confronted by security in the parking area.
Ms. Adelman later posted the CCTV footage online as a caution to other small business owners and encouraged TikTok and Instagram to ‘carry on with their content’. The Daily Mail has decided not to reveal the identities of the women shown in the video.
She will also inform the authorities about the incident next week.

“I was simply waiting to obtain their names, (however) I’m not certain I’m at ease with revealing them, as I don’t wish for them to face teasing,” Ms. Adelman said to the Daily Mail.
They certainly had a good understanding of what they were doing!
She asserted that another market vendor was also deceived by the same supposed methods.
“Another woman was distracting her while the other was stealing,” said Ms. Adelman.
They purchased a single small item but requested two bags, and the woman assisting them was too occupied to monitor their actions as they moved to the other side of the counter while she attended to other customers.
The security guard then pursued them and witnessed them diverting someone’s attention as the other individual was about to place something in her bag, after which he remarked, “You didn’t pay for that,” and they fled.
I think they had certainly done it before and went on a small rampage!
Ms. Adelman was concerned that the worth of handcrafted items reportedly taken by the two on that day totaled into the thousands.

“The sum they would have taken, there’s no doubt, they would have taken a great deal because there were obvious weaknesses everywhere,” she stated in an online video.
After posting the CCTV footage online, she has received numerous messages from other small traders who also ceased selling at markets for the same reason.
“These vendors were convinced that there was no method to prevent minor theft in such settings, and due to this, it was simply more convenient to avoid them,” Ms. Adelman stated.
Established by Ms. Adelman in 2022, Duverah offers luxury jewelry crafted by hand using precious and semi-precious stones, available for purchase online and at local markets at reasonable prices.according to its website.
