The Hanwha Eagles, a professional baseball club, revealed on the 23rd that they have entered into a long-term contract with their top batter, Noh Si-hwan, which is not a free agent (FA) deal.

Hanwha disclosed the contract specifics: “The deal covers 11 seasons, from the 2027 season through the 2037 season, with a total value of 30.7 billion South Korean won, including options.” This is the longest and most significant contract in KBO League history, covering both free agent and non-free agent multi-year deals. Furthermore, Hanwha included a provision that allows Noh Si-hwan to seek an opportunity in Major League Baseball (MLB) through the posting system after the 2026 season. Although opportunities in foreign leagues are restricted to the U.S., the agreement states that if he returns to the KBO League, he will continue as a franchise player for Hanwha.

Noh Si-hwan, selected by Hanwha as the third pick in the second round of the 2019 rookie draft, has hit 20 or more home runs for three straight seasons beginning in 2023. He reached the 30-home-run–100-RBI mark in both 2023 (31 home runs, 101 RBIs) and 2025 (32 home runs, 101 RBIs). Born in 2000, Noh had a .260 batting average, 32 home runs, and 101 RBIs last season. In seven professional seasons, he has maintained a .264 average with 124 home runs and 490 RBIs. Among current KBO League players, only Noh Si-hwan and Kang Baek-ho (136 home runs, born in 1999), both in their 20s, have exceeded 100 career home runs.

Noh Si-hwan shared his appreciation: “I am truly grateful to the team for acknowledging my worth and providing this significant contract. I will strive diligently to reach our objective of securing the 2026 Korean Series title.”
