£5.8 million in improvements have been finished on a key road in the city center before time.

The Lincoln Road in Peterborough has been revitalized, featuring new bike racks and benches, as well as a newly installed traffic-controlled crossing.

The local authority, which had the project undertaken, closed the road in August, setting up a one-way traffic flow heading north between Windmill Street and Stone Lane during the construction.

Cafer Koc, the proprietor of Cafe Algarve on Lincoln Road, stated: “We are pleased with the completed project and so are numerous customers. Sales are increasing and the road appears neater and more attractive than before.”

The project was completed by the council along with its highways partner M Group Ltd, following the authority’s acquisition of over £3.4m in financial support, which included a £2.4m contribution from the government’s Towns Fund.

More funds were obtained from various sources, including payments from developers.

Additional improvements in the area consist of new unregulated pedestrian crossings, enhanced paving, the relocation of the northbound bus stop and a new crosswalk close to the intersection with Alma Road.

Lincoln Road in Millfield is among the most active and varied parts of Peterborough.

The local council expects that the projects conducted between Windmill Street and Serjeant Street will benefit residents and workers in the area, and attract more visitors to Lincoln Road to support local businesses.

Councillor Angus Ellis, who is in charge of environment and transport, stated: “This is excellent news for locals and companies, especially for those on Lincoln Road, as this neighborhood has been waiting a long time for some development.”

“The enhancements we have introduced represent a major improvement, and I am certain this will lead to beneficial outcomes for the region,” he stated.

Scott Blackburn, the senior projects manager at M Group Ltd, stated: “We sincerely appreciate all those involved for their dedication, tolerance, and collaboration in achieving a favorable and successful outcome for this project.”
