Bodo/Glimt have discarded last season’sChampions League finalists Inter Milanexcluded from the competition, they spectacularly secured their spot in the round of 16 following a historic win at the San Siro.
The Norwegian team pulled off one of the competition’s most remarkable upsets at the San Siro, with goals from Jens Petter Hauge and Hakon Evjen enabling them to advance to the knockout rounds for the first time ever.
Alessandro Bastoni scored a last-minute goal for Inter, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Bodo from securing a massive 5-2 win on aggregate.
The underdogs in the Champions League now confront a possible return toManchester Cityin the following round, or a draw against Portuguese champions Sporting CP.
Bodo reached the San Siro with a two-goal lead after an impressive 3-1 win at home in the first match, yet faced an initial surge from Inter, who aimed to reverse the situation in their favor.
But the visitors stood their ground and pulled further ahead in the second half when Hauge, who spent two years at Inter’s rivalsAC Milan, sent the ball into the back of the net following Ole Didrik Blomberg’s attempt being stopped by Yann Sommer.

Their dream night improved further 14 minutes later when Hauge transitioned from scorer to provider, setting up Evjen, who struck the ball past Sommer, effectively ending Inter’s chances of a comeback.
Bastoni managed to score the ball in four minutes, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the strong favorites from being eliminated from the tournament, just eight months after they lost to PSG in last season’s final held in Munich.
It’s yet another impressive achievement for Bodo, who had only earned two points from their initial four matches in the league stage and appeared headed for relegation.
However, they have since achieved a remarkable series of performances, defeating Juventus, the 2023 champions City, Atletico Madrid – on their own ground – and Inter Milan on two occasions.
This Inter team is currently 10 points ahead at the top of Serie A, making this one of the most significant upsets in Champions League history.
The two-legged triumph signifies that Bodo has made history as the first Norwegian team to secure a Champions League knockout stage victory.
