A Republican senator admitted on Tuesday that the PresidentDonald Trumpconfronts a significant challenge in the near futureState of the Union address in Washington, D.C.

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) told CNN anchor Jake TapperThat Americans’ worries about the economy have remained a challenge for him throughout the first year of his second term. Tapper highlighted recent surveys indicating that most people do not think the country’s condition is robust, and “61% feel the president’s policies are taking the U.S. in the wrong direction.”

Tapper questioned Marshall on how Trump could respond to those concerns.

“Well, I believe the main point is that I recognize we are in a serious situation. Over the past four years under the previous administration, we experienced significant inflation—up to 50% in areas such as health care, housing, and child care. So it’s a deep hole,” Marshall stated, attributing the issue to the former president.Joe Biden.

There is a particular group of individuals, a large number of whom are younger, who did not purchase a home four or five years back and are now facing difficulties in starting a marriage or similar life steps. Therefore, I hope he tackles these issues, as we definitely have a cost of living problem, and I hope he outlines his strategy on how the Republicans will address the rising costs of housing, healthcare, and childcare, and assist everyone in returning America to a state where it is truly great for all, Marshall added.

Marshall also attempted to claim that Trump would distribute some of the successes during his initial year in power.
