Routine is crucial for pets, and they depend on regularity in their daily lives, similar to humans. They can get used to a schedule, and it’s challenging for them to stray from it, even for a short period. My dogs know the exact moment I arrive home from work, wego out and play baseballin the yard. They sulk all night if I arrive home late and it’s too dark to go out.
Duke, the Golden Retriever, is very passionate about hisdinnertime routineand struggles with it when his human parents are late. His mother recently shared a humorous video on their TikTok account, @thegoldenpupduke, and while Duke looks very serious, we can’t help but laugh at his over-the-top reactions.
As Mother enters thekitchen, Duke is dramatically lying in his food bowl, clearly expressing a silent protest about the delayed meal. She laughs and says, “Are you lying in your food bowl? Are you ready for dinner?” The affectionate puppy doesn’t budge at all; in fact, he hardly notices her… except for a furtive glance!

She then looks at the clock mounted on the kitchen stove and inquires, “What time is it? Is it 6:00?” If Duke were able to talk, he might mention that it’s actually 6:06, and she’s running late. Mom asks him once more if he’s prepared for dinner, and the expression on his face conveys, “Quickly, Mom, and stop questioning me!”

It’s evident that the Golden Retriever is fully prepared for his food, as many of his fans view his actions as indicators of hunger, commenting such as, “I’m starving!” and “I was ready three hours ago, Susan!”
The video clip’s description will also tickle the funny bone, as Mom jokes, “Duke says I asked for assistance twice!”😂 Hopefully, Duke can now have his meals on time. It’s not healthy for his well-being when dinner is delayed!
