- Leaders urge followers to remain focused on the ‘struggle’
Mosques throughout Australia have honoredIranThe country’s Supreme Leader passed away suddenly, with certain religious leaders describing his death as ‘an inspiration’ and encouraging followers to remain focused on their ‘struggle.’
Services have taken place at mosques inSydney, Melbourne and Brisbaneafter the passing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in his residence by a US-Israeli air strike on February 28.
Khamenei, who has been Iran’s top leader for more than three decades, is accountable for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of individuals, as part of a program of state-backed terrorism targeting both his own citizens and others overseas.
He attained maximum power in 1989 and was appointed commander-in-chief of the Iranian military and its ‘axis of resistance’ – an anti-Western coalition consisting of militant groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon,Hamas, Shia militias in Iraqand the Houthi insurgents in Yemen.
Khamenei also suppressed internal dissent, resulting in the deaths of over 30,000 protesters at the hands of security forces in January alone — the highest number of casualties in modern Iranian history.
Nevertheless, Ali Safdari, who delivers sermons at the Al Zahra Mosque in Arncliffe, located in southern Sydney, referred to Khameni as a ‘noble individual’ and ‘the representation of all that we hoped for in a leader.’
“Will we abandon a moment like this? Never. Brothers, we have lost someone very dear, someone who was very special to us, but we must not lose our vision, we must not lose our struggle,” Mr. Safdari said to the congregation during a service on Sunday evening.

We must not lose the strength within our hearts. Consider this – perhaps a few years back, you would have awakened to the news of the Sayed passing away from a heart attack, due to old age?
It was inevitable. The fact that he was captured in this manner is truly a privilege.
We ought to view it as a source of motivation.
Services have also taken place at the Flagbearer Foundation in Sydney, the El Zahra Centre in Melbourne, and the Zainabia Islamic Centre in Brisbane, with one speaker stating, “He did not raise his voice; Yazid kept his hands. Congratulations on your martyrdom, dear leader.”
Dr. Kylie Moore-Gilbert, who spent over 800 days imprisoned in Iran, called on those grieving the Ayatollah’s passing to focus instead on the hundreds of thousands of lives he took.
“I would say that nearly all of these individuals are not Iranians; they are mostly Shia Muslims who visit Shia mosques and have their own connections with Iran,” the political scientist said to Ben Fordham on 2GB.
‘I would encourage these individuals to consider what the Iranian people are conveying to them, as they certainly do not wish to be grieving over a mass-murdering dictator.
He bears the guilt of hundreds of thousands of lives lost.

It was witnessed as thousands of Iranian-Australians assembled in Sydney’s Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon to mark the fall of Khamenei.
Minoo Ghamari, who left Iran 19 years ago, told the ABC that this was Iran’s ‘Berlin Wall moment,’ referencing the fall of the Iron Curtain in Europe in 1989.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese held an unexpected press briefing on Sunday, expressing solidarity with ‘the courageous individuals’ in Iran.
“The regime’s nuclear program, backing of armed militias, and its harsh violence and intimidation towards its citizens were under the leadership of Ayatollah (Ali) Khamenei,” he stated.
Albanese stated: “This individual took numerous lives in Iran as well as around the world. He was involved in planning attacks on Australian territory. His death will not be grieved.”
Nevertheless, the Australian left-wing party Socialist Alliance strongly criticized the attacks and stated that the bombings were ‘unlawful and violated international human rights standards’.
“We stand in solidarity with the Iranian people’s efforts to achieve democratic changes against the current government. However, the bombings by the US and Israel will not aid this movement in any manner,” stated the Socialist Alliance in a press release.
Hundreds of its advocates assembled outside the Town Hall on Sunday to demand an immediate cessation of the fighting.
