Jack Schlossberg shared that his late elder sister Tatiana had told him that he “had better win” hiscongressional race before she died.

Schlossberg, 33, mentioned that his sister had backed his effort to serve as the representative for New York’s 12th Congressional District in the United States.House of Representativesand urged him to win the race before her passing.

“I can inform you right now that she is still supporting us,” he said.CBS News on Sunday.

The final words she spoke to me were, ‘You’d better win.’ No one understood me more, and I didn’t know anyone better than her.

Tatiana revealed her acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis only six weeks prior to her passing on December 30. The environmental journalist, born in New York, disclosed in November that she was diagnosed in May 2024.

In an article for the New Yorker, Tatiana mentioned she experienced no symptoms and was “one of the healthiest individuals I knew” when the unexpected diagnosis arrived.

Physicians only discovered the illness via standard blood tests following the birth of her second child. She was the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, whose parents were John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy, and designer Edwin Schlossberg.

Schlossberg carried on with his campaign two weeks following his sister’s passing.

He mentioned to CBS on Sunday morning that, despite being the grandson of the former president, he would conduct his campaign based on his own principles and convictions.

“Individuals are free to hold their own opinions. However, I am Jack Schlossberg, and I am proud of my origins. Still, that’s not the only aspect of who I am. I am an independent person, so you can rely on me to form my own thoughts,” Schlossberg stated.

Schlossberg told The New York Timesas he declared his intention to run on November 11: ‘I believe this district requires someone who understands how to combat efficiently in this new political landscape we are experiencing.’

He continued by stating that Democrats must focus on electing individuals who understand policy and can effectively navigate new media, as the environment has become harmful and saturated, largely due to the president.

Nevertheless, the candidate has gained significant attention on social media through a series of videos that have attracted approximately two million followers.

“Right now, you need to be assertive to get your message across,” he said to CBS.

Schlossberg also criticized President Trump and the present administration.

He was questioned about whether he believed he had gone too far by sharing an image of Vice President JD Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, with his face edited onto one of her children.

“I believe what’s overstepping the boundary is the propaganda we witness daily from the White House and Vance,” he replied.

So, what’s our plan – hold back? Hold back on our humor and not tease them, respond with mockery?

After he stated he didn’t believe anyone was “seriously thinking that I meant we actually had a love child,” he continued: “You can look at anything I’ve posted, and I’ll show you a president who shares images of himself bombing American citizens with fecal matter. This is a new era we’re in.”

Regarding his strategy in New York, Schlossberg stated it was time to stop holding back, according to the report.

Do you know what’s happening to New York? They’re stopping the financial support that maintains all the city’s infrastructure.

They’re charging New York and other blue states more simply because they dislike us. And what, am I not allowed to joke about JD Vance and his family? Why?

Schlossberg found himself in trouble soon after declaring his involvement in the congressional race.when his campaign director resigned.

Schlossberg’s campaign manager Annabel Lassally confirmed toPolitico that she was leaving her position in his campaign in December.

A representative from Schlossberg’s campaign, nevertheless, appeared unfazed.

“Following the launch, we keep expanding, being the sole initiative concentrating on local matters and progressive policies,” the representative stated.

We will reveal our new campaign headquarters shortly,” he added, stating, “Everything is set!

Other members of Schlossberg’s staff, including finance director Paige Phillips, who previously worked on Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s campaign, and Eli Hinerfeld, a former deputy campaign manager for New York City Comptroller candidate Justin Brannan, remained with Schlossberg’s team.

They have highlighted the Kennedy heir’s skill in social media as a means for him to stand out – and have even justified some of his ‘unusual’ behaviors.
