The Arab League’s foreign ministers are set to convene an emergency session on Sunday to address Iranian strikes against multiple members of the organization, according to the bloc’s assistant secretary-general, who spoke with AFP.
The conference, which will take place through a video call, was initiated by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, and Egypt, according to Hossam Zaki.
On February 28, U.S. and Israeli forces initiated a large-scale aerial operation targeting Iran. In response, Iran has carried out attacks on Israel and nations in the Gulf region.
Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, previously criticized the Iranian strikes, describing them as “completely condemnable” and emphasizing that they “not only represent a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter, but also an attack on the values of friendly relations between neighbors.”
He mentioned that the attacks “result in an extraordinary level of tension between Iran and its Arab neighbors.”
This represents a serious strategic error by Iran, which I hope they will correct by stopping these attacks right away.
