The State Services Department has detained a suspected leader of the Eastern Security Network and a person linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra, accused of being involved in multiple attacks on police stations and killings in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

A statement released on Saturday revealed that the suspects were arrested on Friday in the Eha-Amufu and Umuhu areas after several months of continuous intelligence work by security personnel.

Security officials stated, “the detention was the result of extended intelligence efforts targeting the individuals’ actions. The arrests occurred shortly after a series of violent attacks on police stations and murders between 2024 and 2026.”

The individuals involved were subsequently recognized as Sabastine Odo Odam, believed to be a well-known ESN leader, and Ejike Daniel, thought to be associated with IPOB.

As per the reports, the individuals under suspicion are said to have admitted to orchestrating multiple assaults on police facilities, where arms were taken and security officers were killed.

“Both individuals have admitted to being the leaders behind a series of attacks on police stations and stealing weapons, including the killing of 11 workers in February 2026, two officers in January 2026, two police personnel in December 2025, and another officer in 2024, along with other incidents,” the source stated.

The source referred to the arrests as a significant advancement in the continuous attempts to address instability in the South-East.

“The arrests mark a major achievement for the DSS in the battle against instability in the South-East and the nation as a whole,” the source added.

Residents of Isi-Uzo felt a sense of relief after the events, stating that the arrests might contribute to bringing back stability to areas that have faced ongoing violence in recent years.

Both individuals are currently held in DSS custody and are set to appear in court for arraignment once the investigations are completed, according to the source.
