Footage of the event posted on social media generated numerous reactions highlighting increasing anxiety over air travel as conflicts in the Middle East escalate.
“Thankfully, I missed that flight yesterday… You can sense the fear and anxiety in the airport during WW3. Returning to America is terrible,” one user wrote.
Another comment stated: “The Senate should provide funding for the TSA. They have left the Coast Guard, FEMA, and Cybersecurity CISA in a shutdown for three weeks. We can expect to see more of this.”
‘A different US flight disruption in 2026… it seems like these events are occurring more frequently. It makes air travel stressful. It’s amazing how quickly fear spreads on a plane,’ a third individual remarked.
A comment stated: “Regrettably, there will be much more of this ahead.”
“Studied this video closely. Every American should be vigilant about their safety,” another person said.
Within a week, conflicts throughout the Middle East have escalated, beginning with a lethal combined US-Israeli military strike on Iran.
The attacks resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leading Tehran to initiate continuous retaliatory missile and drone strikes against US military installations throughout the Gulf area.
On Friday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the US is getting ready to launch its ‘most extensive bombing campaign yet’ against Iran, with attacks anticipated to target the regime’s missile production facilities, according toFox Business.
He proposed that Iran might increase tensions by attacking the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s critical energy passage, to interfere with global oil and gas shipments.
He also warned that shutting down the vital waterway, which transports approximately 20 percent of global oil and gas, could cause significant disruption and lead to a sharp rise in energy costs.
President Donald Trump has mandated war-risk insurance for American ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring that US vessels and their cargo are safeguarded against potential damage.
The Secretary of the Treasury stated that Iran asserts the Strait of Hormuz is accessible, yet is preventing vessels associated with American or Israeli interests from traversing it.
Since the attacks on the regime started, almost ten ships have been targeted in the Gulf, and Iran’s Guard has instructed vessels not to pass through the critical strait.
However, Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps representative Alimohammad Naini swiftly disputed Trump’s proposal to send naval ships into the strait on Friday, cautioning that they are “waiting for their arrival.”
The Daily Mail has contacted Southwest Airlines for additional information.
