Former United States Army Lieutenant General Mark Hertling provided Jackie Alemany, host of MS NOW, little opportunity to inquire about remarks made by the Secretary of Defense.Pete Hegsethabout Russia’s involvement in theIran war on Saturday morning.
Rather, he acted prematurely, interrupted her, and pressed Hegseth, whom he had previously casually called a “former Fox host.”

Introduced to tackle the Pentagon’s widely criticized war propaganda videos, Alemany provided him with a clip featuring Hegseth in an upcoming“60 Minutes” report, disregarding reports that the Russians are assisting Iran in targeting American interests.
Hegseth remarked, “I’m not concerned about that,” but Hertling halted Alemany mid-step by exclaiming, “Jackie, that’s a dodge, and I’m going to address it before you even have the chance to ask. I’m sorry.”

But it really frustrates me as a soldier,” he added. “I mean, I recall not too long ago when Secretary Hegseth was a Fox News commentator and there were reports that Russia shared information which resulted in soldiers’ deaths in Afghanistan, and he was extremely critical of President Biden. Now we find ourselves in a situation where Russia is supplying intelligence that could potentially endanger U.S. forces in relation to Iran.
“As a military leader, I advise you to examine all elements within an operational area. If Russia is sharing intelligence, and there are signs that it is being sent to Iran, which is aiding them in targeting U.S. military installations, they must take action against it,” he added.
Hertling later expressed regret to Alemany, and she dismissed it as a “pre-emptive strike.”
