The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has assigned the Crime Control Department (CCD) the responsibility of eradicating unauthorized firearms throughout the province.

The head of the government ordered officials to initiate a comprehensive effort to combat the culture of weapons following Eid al-Fitr.

Authorities mentioned that, for the first time in Punjab, a thorough law has been developed to prevent the showing of arms and the unlawful use of guns.

Maryam Nawaz has given her approval to the Punjab Act on Surrendering Illicit Arms 2026, which features stringent measures designed to eradicate all types of unauthorized weapons.

According to the new legislation, a unique license is necessary for antique firearms showcased within residences.

After the enactment of the law, people who have unauthorized weapons will need to hand them over to the CCD as part of the provincial government’s initiative to eliminate the culture of arms and enhance public safety in Punjab.
