The People’s Democratic Party has condemned the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, for asserting that the opposition party is no longer a political entity, calling the statement regrettable and indicative of what it referred to as irrational propaganda from the governing party.
In a statement released on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the opposition party emphasized that although there have been alleged defections organized by the APC, Nigerians have kept rejecting the ruling party because of the difficulties resulting from the policies of Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Morka, who was featured in an earlier Monday episode of The Morning Show, claimedthat the PDP is no longer able to function effectively as a political party because of internal issues and its failure to offer a reliable political platform for its members.
He stated that leaving the APC should be considered as support for the governing party, not an indication that Nigeria is moving toward a single-party system.
In response, Ememobong characterized the comment as regrettable.
The text stated, “We have come across a statement attributed to the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, who asserts that the Peoples Democratic Party is no longer a political party due to the departure of certain officeholders, a move planned and carried out by the All Progressives Congress. This declaration is deeply regrettable and clearly shows that Morka and his associates are out of touch with reality.”
Interestingly, reality shows that even though the APC has managed to secure significant defections through force and incentives, Nigerians have continually rejected the ruling party, which is increasingly harming Nigeria and its people. This is clear from the challenges their party has faced with membership registration, as governors in several states have used the database of state empowerment programs to fill their own state registers. The recent disruption of the City Boys event in Owerri is a sign of what they can expect across the country.
For Morka, who is trying to emerge as a contemporary Joseph Goebbels, he must recall that delusional propaganda not only ruins a country but eventually devours those who promote it, as witnessed in Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler. His justification for the political genocide by Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s APC-led Federal Government mirrors Goebbels’ support for Hitler’s riots and concentration camps.
We can guarantee Morka and his group in the collapsing APC government that when the history of this era is recorded, and the danger to democracy is outlined, his name will be clearly marked in the annals of disgrace as one of those who strongly supported the Tinubu misrule.
