The renowned actor is said to have died on Saturday, March 14, 2026, following a long struggle with health issues, as reported by Nigerian news outlets. He leaves behind a wife who is expecting a child and two offspring.

The news of his passing was initially shared by a colleague, Abubakar Yahaya Matinko, a Nigerian producer who also lived next to the late Ascon.

As per Matinko, the late actor was admitted to the Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) prior to his unfortunate passing.

Umar Ascon, a well-known personality in the Yoruba-language Nigerian film sector known as Kannywood, gained recognition following his portrayal of Alhaji Lado Mai Barkono in the extended TV series Garwashi.

His outstanding performances captivated viewers, allowing him to develop a significant following within a brief span of time in the industry.entertainment industry.
