Trump Claims “Fake News” Media Should Be Charged With Treason

Donald Trump delivered a long and furious rant on Truth Social, criticizing what he called inaccurate reporting regarding the conflict with Iran. The former president shared an extended message attacking what he labeled as “fake” news coverage of the war, accusing major U.S. media outlets of promoting misleading stories about the situation and the U.S. military’s actions. Trump specifically targeted The Wall Street Journal and other media organizations, asserting that their reports mirrored Iranian propaganda and misrepresented the true nature of the conflict. His remarks came as the ongoing tension with Iran remains a central topic in the news and fuels discussions in Washington about military tactics and how the conflict is presented to the American public.

In his message, Trump stated that Iran has consistently used propaganda and information warfare to shape global views on its military strength. «Iran has long been recognized as an expert in media manipulation and public relations. They are militarily weak, but very skilled at providing the eager Fake News Media with false information,» Trump wrote. He asserted that Tehran has recently increased these efforts by employing artificial intelligence to produce fake images and videos that seem genuine. According to the president, this content is then spread by Western media outlets that do not check the validity of the claims before reporting on supposed Iranian achievements in the conflict.

Trump also disputed multiple reports detailing damage to U.S. military equipment during the conflict, especially those claiming that American refueling planes had been destroyed or seriously harmed. «The five U.S. Refueling Planes that were supposedly shot down and heavily damaged, as reported falsely by The Wall Street Journal and others, are all still operational, with the exception of one that will soon be back in the air,» Trump stated. He claimed that images shared online depicting damaged American infrastructure or ships were fake and part of a larger misinformation campaign. «Buildings and Ships that appear to be on fire are not — It’s FAKE NEWS, created by A.I.,» he further remarked.

The president also highlighted reports spreading online regarding a claimed assault on a significant U.S. naval ship in the area. “For example, Iran, in close collaboration with the Fake News Media, displays our impressive USS Abraham Lincoln Aircraft Carrier, one of the biggest and most respected vessels in the world, engulfed in flames in the ocean,” Trump stated.

Trump claimed the situation did not occur and blamed Iranian officials for creating sensational images to show power, even though he mentioned significant losses on the battlefield. «It wasn’t burning, and it wasn’t even targeted — Iran knows better than to do that!» he stated.

Trump further intensified his attacks on the media by implying that publications releasing such stories should encounter serious repercussions under American law.

Trump ended the post by commending Brendan Carr, head of the Federal Communications Commission, who has cautioned broadcasters regarding the possible effects of disseminating misleading information.

“I am extremely excited to see Brendan Carr, the head of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), reviewing the licenses of some of these corrupt and very unpatriotic ‘News’ Organizations,” Trump wrote. The president claimed that television networks gain advantages from public airwaves and should therefore be monitored if they spread false information.

“They receive Billions of Dollars in Free American Airwaves and utilize it to spread Lies, both in News and most of their programs,” Trump added, indicating that federal regulators should evaluate if certain broadcasters should retain their licenses.
