President Donald Trump caused noticeable reactions as he spoke at the Kennedy Center on Monday, seemingly disclosing that a Republican legislator had been given a “terminal” diagnosis and was anticipated to be “dead by June.”

Located next to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Trump was talking about the Republican Party’s narrow majority in the House and how the passing of several Republican members recently has complicated the ability of Republican leaders to push the president’s policies forward.

We had a man who was extremely sick, it seemed like he wouldn’t survive, I don’t know, I won’t reveal his name,” Trump said, then looked at Johnson. “Should I? Do others know his name? Would you like to mention it? He would be honored, go ahead and share the story.

When urged to provide information, Johnson disclosed that Rep. Neal Dunn (R-FL) had recently faced “significant health issues” which he characterized as “extremely severe.”

“He received a very serious diagnosis, and I brought it up with the president, stating that Congressman Dunn is truly a dedicated advocate and a patriot since he continues to come to work, whereas others with such a diagnosis might be more likely to go home,” Johnson said.

“What was the verdict?” Trump inquired.

“I believe it was a fatal prognosis,” Johnson stated.

“He would be dead by June!” Trump exclaimed.

Johnson, clearly surprised, hesitated for a moment before replying.

Okay, that wasn’t made public,” he said, causing noticeable reactions from the audience. “But yes, okay. It was bleak, that’s what I was about to mention.
