Pakistan, March 19 — Global nations have set the dates for Eid al-Fitr 2026 according to the observation of the Shawwal moon, with festivities expected to occur on different days across various areas.
Several nations, such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Turkey, will observe Eid on Friday, March 20, 2026. These countries concluded 30 days of Ramadan since the moon of Shawwal was not sighted.
Other countries that observe Eid on the same day are the Maldives, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq. Several African nations, including Sudan, Nigeria, Senegal, and Cameroon, have also announced March 20 as the date for Eid festivities.
In the meantime, Afghanistan, Niger, and Mali will mark Eid on Thursday, March 19, 2026, after the confirmed observation of the Shawwal moon. Singapore will hold its Eid celebrations on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Numerous nations, such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Iran, Oman, and Egypt, are continuing to await formal declarations after local observations of the moon.
Around the world, the observance of Eid is contingent upon the visual sighting of the Shawwal moon, with official Hilal committees in every nation deciding when Ramadan concludes and Eid begins.
