A contestant on Bargain Hunt claimed he ‘struck gold’ when he removed the carpet from his house — and uncovered a ‘lovely’ discovery in the process.

The auctioneer and television personality Charles Hanson has also appeared in Antiques Road Trip and Flog It!

Taking to TikTok, the 47-year-old offered fans a glimpse into his personal life by sharing an unexpected find.

Charles added to the video: ‘I took my carpet off and you can’t imagine what I discovered. Yes, I realize, wrong tool, but I was thrilled.”

He said, “I had a very late night tonight. I’ve been working with my screwdriver, and look at this.”

Old carpet. Beneath it, I’ve uncovered some of the original tiles that adorned my house likely 140 years ago, but just take a look at what I’m uncovering.

The BBC presenter said: ‘It’s amazing. Just look at this – at my progress so far. It’s a discovery.’

Shortly thereafter, Charles’ supporters left their remarks beneath his social media update.

One wrote: “That’s an evening out on the town worth remembering.”

Another remarked: “I would cry with happiness. How lovely.”

A third person said, “The tiles will polish up beautifully! Excellent discovery.”

While a fourth wrote: ‘Extremely elegant.’

Elsewhere, A young woman who featured on Bargain Hunt has shared her experience of participating in the famous program, as well as the nature of the experts to collaborate with.

The popular series first appeared on television in 2000 and has since broadcast more than 1,800 episodes spanning an impressive 71 seasons.

This implies that many individuals have appeared on the show over the years, including Alicia Humphreys and her father-in-law in 2019.

The pair, who were members of the red team, appeared in the 26th episode of season 53, which was filmed in Grantham.

Speaking with the ExpressRegarding what inspired them both to participate, Alicia said, “I was going through a list of things I wanted to accomplish before turning 30, and appearing on television was on that list.”

I was discussing it with my father-in-law, and following some conversation, we chose to apply for Bargain Hunt as a joke.

The episode was hosted by Charlie Ross, with Gary Pe and Nick Hall appearing as the featured experts.
