After reductions in the cost of bread and instant noodles, snacks and ice cream are also experiencing lower prices. This action supports the government’s initiatives to maintain price stability.
As per the special task force on civil price management and distribution structure inspection under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, which met on the 19th, 19 products from four companies in the confectionery, mass-produced bread, and ice cream industries will experience price cuts ranging from 100 to 400 South Korean won, up to 13.4%. With Orion also indicating willingness to join, the number of companies involved increased to five, with 22 items affected.
In particular, Orion will lower the prices of three items—Bae Bae, Bio Candy, and Orion Waffle—by an average of 5.5%. The individual price cuts are 6.7% for Bae Bae, 5% for Bio Candy, and 4.8% for Orion Waffle. These reduced prices will be in effect for shipments beginning in April.
According to convenience store pricing, the Orion Waffle is anticipated to decrease from 4,200 South Korean won to 4,000 South Korean won, with each item experiencing a reduction of approximately 100–200 South Korean won.
Samlip will reduce the prices of five popular bread products available in convenience stores by an average of 5%. The Pokémon Gooseu Choco Cake will go down from 1,800 Korean won to 1,700 Korean won, and both the California Walnut Cream Cheese Bread and the Walnut Honey Bread will each decrease by 100 Korean won.
Lotte Wellfood, which had previously lowered edible oil prices for companies by 3%, is now decreasing the cost of nine products in categories such as confectionery, ice cream, and mass-produced bread by as much as 20%, with an average reduction of 4.7%. Items including Mom’s Hand Pie, Green Grape Candy, and Kirin Wangmanju will experience price drops ranging from 100 to 200 South Korean won.
Binggrae is set to reduce the wholesale prices of eight ice cream items—Linky Bar, Guseul Polarpo, and Nyam—by an average of 8.2%.
