A Channel 4A 33-year-old reality TV participant has surprised audiences by disclosing that he is a grandfather. Yes, that’s right.
The new series, The Hunt: Prey vs Predator, sends a group of 10 into the ‘vast, unyielding forest’ where they are forced to compete against each other in a game of ‘cat and mouse’ for a prize of £100k.
During the group’s introductions, Nathan, a former soldier who now works as a dentist, mentioned he has six children, which came as a surprise to his fellow cast members, including Marc, a prison officer.
Nathan, who is married to his wife Carly, then casually mentioned: ‘And a grandfather of one,’ although he quickly clarified that ‘we don’t use the term grandad because it’s really uncool, so we go with Papa.’
In a different conversation directed at the camera, he quipped, “Life is constantly moving. This is a pause, this is a vacation.”
Nevertheless, the grandfather disclosure surprised fans.
“He’s 33 and a grandfather!?” wrote X user Tom James Clark.
‘Surprised no one asked follow-up questions about Nathan being a grandfather at 33!?,’ MishyMoo added.
“Nathan. A grandfather, at 33?!!!” Millie repeated.
Providing further insight into his busy life, he revealed before the series debut: ‘My wife and I operate a casting agency and two private drama schools. Life is hectic. I’m an ordinary guy from the north and I’m just looking for a bit of fun.’
Talking about what inspired him to join the show, he mentioned: ‘I truly want to do this to demonstrate to myself that I am capable.’
The Hunt review
contributor Adam Miller provides his three-star assessment of the series…
Channel 4‘The Hunt: Prey vs Predator’ is the first reality show I’ve encountered in this tiresome post-Traitors period that genuinely seems to be establishing its own unique path – evoking an era before we all agreed thatClaudia Winklemansliding around a Scottish castle with three cloaked killers was the pinnacle of British television.
The program has been characterized as ‘as harsh as TheHunger Games… without the killing. Personally, that doesn’t quite do The Hunt justice.
Rather, it seems like a pleasant return to the heyday of competitive television in the 2010s – combiningPhillip SchofieldOne truly outstanding contribution to broadcasting, The Cube, along with Channel 4’s severely underappreciated surveillance thriller Hunted.
I suffer from a condition known as FND [Functional Neurological Disorder], which causes me to have seizures and also leads to weakness on my left side, making it a personal challenge to determine if I can still run through a forest.
To emerge victorious, he must be the final person remaining in a fierce competition filled with high-energy pursuits and constantly changing loyalties.
In a broader sense, supporters have embraced the strategic new program.
‘Between this and being handcuffed, Channel 4 is somewhat reviving quality reality competition programs,’ Luke commended.
“I really had a great time at tonight’s The Hunt: Prey vs. Predator premiere, I like the format of this new game,” Darrennpassey agreed.
The Hunt: Prey vs Predator is scheduled to air tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
