The parents of Philadelphia PhilliesThird baseman Alec Bohm allegedly utilized limited liability companies to transfer millions of dollars from his financial accounts for personal benefit, as stated in a lawsuit obtained by the Daily Mail.
“Although Alec’s inquiry regarding his financial status is still in progress and not yet concluded, an initial review suggests that Alec believes and thus asserts that [his parents] Daniel and Lisa embezzled a significant amount of money from him,” stated the complaint.
The 29-year-old batter is requesting a minimum of $1 million along with interest, fines, expenses, legal charges, and any additional remedies the court finds suitable.
Filed in PennsylvaniaFirst reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the legal action alleges that Daniel and Lisa Bohm established two LLCs for their son, a professional baseball player, in 2019 to help manage his increasing wealth. According to the documents, Alec’s parents informed him that he would need to hold a 10-percent share in the LLCs to oversee his finances, while maintaining that he “owned all the assets, funds, and everything else,” as stated in the lawsuit.
“Daniel and Lisa consistently informed Alec that, whenever they took action on his behalf, they did so as his parents — providing their help at no cost,” the lawsuit stated.
Alec’s parents also established a foundation in his honor, but as stated in the legal case, both the LLCs and the charitable organization were utilized by Daniel and Lisa for their personal financial gain.

“Every transfer, Daniel and Lisa clearly became more daring,” stated the complaint.
They established LLCs to oversee his private home, and once more, acquired a 10-percent ownership, arguing that this was necessary for them to handle the property, according to the legal complaint.
However, in January, when Alec sought details from his parents regarding the different assets, Daniel and Lisa are said to have declined.
“Daniel and Lisa, however, declined to share any of the limited documents that Alec requested, such as electronic login details, account statements, tax forms, and other easily obtainable records,” stated the lawsuit.
Rather, Daniel and Lisa sought legal representation, which “provided minimal details to create an appearance of compliance,” the lawsuit stated.
Shortly after, Alec was notified by his parents’ lawyer that they planned to send bills for all the funds they thought they were entitled to for handling his investments.
“In other words, Daniel and Lisa not only misled Alec by falsely stating the reasons behind their interest in [the LLCs], but they also now assert that they have ownership rights and are entitled to payment for ‘services’ they claim to have rendered in relation to the operations of [the LLCs],” stated the lawsuit.

Bohm’s parents rejected any fault in a statement released by their legal representatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Bohm have always cherished their son and acted in his best interests, both personally and professionally, and continue to do so today,” said Robert Eckard, the couple’s lawyer, to the Inquirer. “They are profoundly upset by the accusations brought against them in this lawsuit and the exaggerated false story presented here, which they consider completely baseless.
The Daily Mail has also requested a statement from Alec’s lawyer.
The third selection in the 2018 MLB Draft, Bohm is under a one-year contract worth $10 million, but will be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, potentially commanding a significant salary increase.
Alec is reportedly in a relationship with ESPN commentator Erin Dolan.
