The Justice Department under President Donald Trumpsettled a frivolous lawsuitThis week, with former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, they paid him more than $1 million after he stated he had been politically targeted for lying about his interactions with Russia. However, former prosecutor Kristy Greenberg told MS NOW’s Alicia Menendez that this could lead to similar agreements for Trump’s political adversaries, especially New York Attorney General Letitia James, who has faced prosecution over unfounded mortgage fraud claims from a Trump supporter.
This follows former FBI Director James Comey being once again subjected to a DOJ inquiry, with a subpoena issued concerning a so-called“grand conspiracy” against Trump.
This is me seeking the reasoning and the real offense that Letitia James has committed,” said Menendez. “Kristy, you’re a lawyer. Assist me. Where is the wrongdoing?
Well, it seems we’re inventing crimes these days,” said Greenberg. “A grand conspiracy isn’t a real thing. It’s not a crime. So I suppose we’re just going through the statute of frauds. We didn’t reach anything with mortgage fraud. Now we’re moving on to insurance fraud, and we’ll keep going until something finally takes. I mean, you know, there’s nothing here.

And in the end— I’m not saying that judges simply dismissed it, but grand juries, when the case was brought before them on multiple occasions, also decided not to proceed with an indictment. However, they are not aiming to stop,” said Greenberg. “They are trying, at this stage, to harass and intimidate, and tarnish her reputation. I believe it’s clearly harassment by now.
And I believe that similar to how we witnessed Michael Flynn receiving compensation through a settlement,” she remarked. “In a future Department of Justice, I anticipate seeing the same for Tish James. She could request attorney’s fees for expenses, arguing that this constitutes a vindictive prosecution, an unnecessary legal action, and one initiated in bad faith. And yes, you should cover my expenses because this is utterly unreasonable.
