Jorge Martin passed Francesco BagnaiaOn the last lap of the sprint race in Austin on Saturday, he secured his first MotoGP victory since his world championship-winning year in 2024.

The exciting dash also featuredMarc Marquez clash with Fabio Di Giannantonioon the first lap, spoiling both of their competitions.Marco Bezzecchialso collapsed, losing his points allowed Martin, his teammate at the Aprilia factory team.

The pole sitter, Di Giannantonio, had a strong start but made a mistake at the wide first turn, allowing Bagnaia (Ducati) to overtake him.Pedro Acosta (KTM) and Marquez (Ducati).

Di Giannantonio executed a powerful maneuver on Marquez to regain third place soon after, but when Marquez attempted to retaliate at the end of the straightaway, it marked the conclusion of the race for both riders.

Marquez pushed the VR46 Ducati hard with his inside move at Turn 12, but ended up losing control and crashing. He veered off track and collided with the Italian rider, sending both of them tumbling to the ground and out of the running for any points.

Martin was in sixth place and seemed unlikely to win as the group exited the first corner, but his decision to use a medium rear tire—while the rest of the competitors went for a softer option—proved to be a brilliant move as he overtook his opponents and moved closer to Bagnaia in the final lap.

‘Pecco’ seemed to have the race secured for a long time, but Martin made significant progress against his 2024 championship competitor during the final two laps. He performed a challenging yet honorable maneuver on the last lap, pushing past Bagnaia at Turn 12 to claim victory—despite questions regarding his physical condition even for this brief sprint on such a demanding track.

Strangely, Martin crashed during a wheelie on his in-lap, yet he emerged from the incident to keep celebrating his win.

Bagnaia finished behind the Spanish rider, securing a promising second position, while Acosta claimed the final podium spot.

Bezzecchi was competing for second place with Martin when he crashed at Turn 11 on the eighth lap out of ten. This was the second instance this season where he has been forced out of a favorable sprint position due to a crash, after previously falling from the lead in Thailand.

Another competitor who rose to prominence and then fell was the one prone to crashes.Joan MirThe Spanish rider appeared strong in fourth place on the factory Honda, applying pressure to Acosta, but lost position at the first corner of the final lap.

Enea BastianiniRode a strong offensive race with the Tech3 KTM to secure fourth position following Mir’s departure. The 2022 COTA champion moved aheadAlex Marquez(Gresini Ducati) on the last lap to claim the position.
